President’s Message

The Past, the Present and the Promise.

Welcome to the official, virtual home of the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

As the first alumnae chapter in Georgia, we are proud of our diverse membership, and I am humbled by the privilege to serve as its 42nd President. Chartered in 1924, the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter is home to over 600 dedicated change agents and social activists who serve Atlanta and the world community in support of the initiatives of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and its programs:

• Economic Development

• Educational Development

• International Awareness and Involvement

• Physical and Mental Health

• Risk Management

• Emergency Response

• Social Action (Political Awareness and Involvement)

As we approach our Centennial, we are preparing to paint the City RED in celebration of a century of accomplishments with nostalgic hallmark events, engaging social events to highlight the present, and futuristic strategic planning to guarantee the promise of another 100 years of public service!

The Atlanta Alumnae Chapter is a cornerstone in the life of the Atlanta community. We cherish our partnerships with non-profit organizations, government agencies and corporate entities. As we round out this unprecedented season of a worldwide pandemic, we are making great strides in voter registration and GOTV during the most important elections of our lifetime’s. We are trailblazers in the global fight against female genital mutilation, and we work closely with the I Can Fly School in Kenya that nurtures black girls and prepares them academically for the miracle of higher education. Our Delta Academies help young people develop and hone life skills in safe spaces, and the Chapter provides thousands of dollars in scholarship funding to high school students embarking upon college and university study.

Additionally, we have fun across the generations. Our youngest member is 22 years old and our most seasoned is 101 years of age! We benefit greatly from the innovative and “out of the box” creativity of our younger Sorors and the steady, solid wisdom of our Delta Dears.  Sorors, families, and friends participate in the AAC DST Golf Academy which financially supports the Camp Best Friends Golf Academy in the Rosel Fann community, as well as other Membership Services programs. Our energetic, spirited Step Team brings enjoyment and entertainment to the City of Atlanta by performing in half time shows and social action events.

If you are a soror of Delta Sigma Theta, and would like to rekindle your connection, and experience joy in our sisterhood, please join us at our next public event or sorority meeting. We anxiously await your visit and will warmly welcome you to the Atlanta Alumnae Chapter!
